Food & Drink
The art of catering is to provide enough food and drink for your guests and to offer enough variety so that everyone will find something they like. Ludlow is well-known for its award winning restaurants and the Food Festival, and it's fair to say that the quality of all restaurants and caterers in Ludlow and the surrounding area are generally very good indeed, assuring you of quality food of any kind.
Booking your catering and beverages can feel quite daunting, but once you have a good idea of the number of guests you'll be feeding at the wedding breakfast and at the after-wedding party, go directly to the caterers and get them to work everything out for you: after all they have the experience and expertise. A caterer will be able to talk you through the wedding day and give you suggestions for the menu and help advise wether the food should be eaten with, for example, white or red wine. If you would then like to order your own wines and beverages there are experts who will be able to take you from just having white or red wine to more specific varieties to please all your guests. Again, they will be able to work out how many bottles you will need cater for all your guests.
Another idea, and one I saw at a wedding recently, is to make your own bottles to commemorate the day. There are two ways to do this. First, you could actually make your own alcoholic drink, a wine or beer, and hand-make your labels so people have something truly unique for the day. Maybe an in-law or parent would be interested in doing this, as it's really good fun! The other way would be to contact a vintner or distributor, like Tanner's Wines in Shrewsbury, and see if they could organise a bottling, and put a professional label on it. That way you could get wine for the table, and a wonderful keepsake for the guests. If you have a big enough budget, you could even get whisky! Maybe not...
